If seven digits of raw data are specified, then the check digit is calculated automatically. Otherwise, the provided check digit will be validated.

ISBN is a variant of EAN-13 used to identify books. Also known as: ISBN-13, International Standard Book Number, Bookland EAN-13. Standards: ISO 2108, ISO/IEC 15420, BS EN 797, GS1 General Specifications. Data must be twelve or thirteen digits separated by a dash -. Data may also be provided in the legacy ISBN-10 format as nine or ten digits, appropriately separated by dashes -. It will be automatically updated to ISBN-13 format. If the last digit of the raw data is not provided, then the ISBN check digit is calculated automatically, otherwise it will be validated.
